Welcome to the Camano Center

Mission Statement

The mission of the Camano Center is to foster the well-being of our seniors and community by providing opportunities for personal vitality and independence which is advance through programs and activities that promote the welfare and safety of our members and our community.

Philosophy

The Camano Center, a registered 501 c (3) charitable non-profit, serves as a community gathering place where seniors and members of the community come together to meet and support each other’s, dignity and sense of belonging.  We build a strong and health community through collaboration and celebration.

The Camano Center

The Camano Center was built in 2001 and is owned and operated by Camano Senior Services Association. This wonderful building resembles a mountain lodge with wood and rock accents. It is designed as a place where community members, including seniors, can get connected to services, programs, classes and each other. The grounds are planted and maintained by a crew of master gardeners.

The Center may be rented for indoor or outdoor events, and has both large and small spaces for meetings and other events like weddings, auctions, meetings, and parties. The Sundin Room offers access to a terrace and amphitheatre area.

Weekdays, the Center is a hub of community activity. There are aerobics, yoga, Zumba and T'ai Chi classes, and card games and art classes. There is also a monthly book club, and a writer's group that meets weekly. All of the Camano Center events, activities and services are published monthly in the Center's newsletter, the "Camano Connections".

On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, Senior Services of Island County offers a lunch program that is not limited to serving just our seniors. They also administer the Meals on Wheels Program that services all of Camano Island. The Center also has a medical equipment lending program, wireless internet and a lending library.

The Camano Center hosts many Center Sponsored Events. There are regular community dances featuring the house band "Camano Junction", the 55+ Resource Fair, The Women's Expo, Crab Feed, Salmon BBQ, the Collectors Car Show and Flea Market, the Holiday Craft Fair and an Afternoon with Santa as well as their Annual Gala Auction.

Along with their own events, the Camano Center hosts many local events and groups like the Annual Chili and Chowder Cook-Off, the Camano Animal Shelter Association Annual Auction and the Culinary Arts Society.

The Camano Center encourages everyone to become a member and "Get Connected"!
