Groups and Clubs

Volunteers and staff alike strive to make the Center a desirable place to visit and participate. It does take more than volunteers and staff though to keep the Center a pleasing place to visit. It takes a janitor to keep it clean and power and gas to keep it warm and lit. A $1.00 donation for members and a $2 donation for non-members is suggested (unless otherwise noted) each time you participate in a scheduled activity at the Center to help defray some of these costs. Thank you for your help and consideration. This request does not apply to classes for which you have paid a registration fee or for any fundraising groups, such as the Handcrafters.

• BOOK CLUB: 1st Wednesday of the month from 3-4pm. The reading list is in the "Camano Connections" newsletter or call Onie Wege 387-5459.
• BRIDGE (Duplicate): Thursdays 12:30-4pm. Contact Myrna Corcoran  360-387-8840.
• BRIDGE (Party): Mondays 12:30-4:00pm. Contact Vicki Kolbe at 360-631-5089.
• BRIDGE (Party): Fridays 12:00-3:00 pm. Contact Barbara Williams 360-387-4420.
• CAMANO JUNCTION: Our resident band plays for our more-or-less monthly dances. No charge to play in the band. Attendance at the dances is $7 for members, $10 for non-members.
• CHESS & CHECKERS CLUB: Meets Wednesdays 1-4pm. Beginners welcome. Call Alan 387-3145 for more info.
• CREATIVE WRITING: Wednesdays from 10:00-12:00 pm. An on-going workshop in an informal format. Facilitator is Jeanne Yassick at 387-1144.
• CRIBBAGE: Mondays & Fridays from 1:00-3:00pm. Free lesson on your first visit. Contact Don McLees at 360-629-4231 or 425-367-2209.
• CULINARY ART SOCIETY: 2nd Wednesday of the month from 6:15-8:30pm. Social time, demonstrations, cooking contests, and lots more. Guests pay a $7 tasting fee. Call Larry Rydell at 360-387-2567 for information about becoming a Culinary Art Society member.
• CURRENT EVENTS: Discussion group meets every Friday from 1-4 pm.
• DOWN-TO-EARTH GARDENERS: 2nd Monday of the month at 10:00am at the Center. Share ideas and plants and enjoy guest speakers. This wonderful group of gardeners takes care of the gardens and grounds around the Center. Newcomers welcome. Contact Lalee Burill at 360-387-3122. No fee to belong.
• HANDCRAFTERS GROUP: 2nd and 4th Fridays 9:30am-noon. This group happily welcomes new members, especially quilters and creative crafters. Contact Helen McHugh at 360-387-2813. No fee to belong.
• MAH JONGG: Mondays 9:00am-12:00pm. Contact Gerrie at 360-387-3961 for more information.

• MEMORY CARE SUPPORT GROUP: 3rd Tuesday of each month, 2:00-3:30 PM. Contact Ginny Berube with questions at 360-387-6201. No fee.

• SEVENTY FIVE PLUS GROUP: 1st and 3rd Monday of each month from 10am to noon. A group for those seventy five and older to get together to chat about anything. Drop in or contact Paul Savoie at 360-387-8840.
• TENNIS: Women's Tuesday & Thursday, 9-11am. Men's Monday, Wednesday & Friday, 8:30-11am. Mixed doubles Saturday 9am. Women call Maxine Knapik 387-1816. Men call Chuck Ruscha 387-8269.
• TRAVEL TALK: Second Tuesday of each month from 1:30-3pm. Get together to share stories of trips you have enjoyed. Contact Megan Fite at 360-387-1186 for more information.
• WOMEN'S COFFEE & CONVERSATION: 2nd and 4th Friday of each month from 10-11am. A group for women to get together and play a fun question and answer game. Contact Dee Wendler at 951-551-5117.
