Class descriptions:

Yoga for beginners (level 1) Experienced instructors lead beginning students through the basics of Yoga with attention to the specific needs of each student. The course includes breathing techniques and methods for safely stretching out and strengthening the body, using precise alignment and form. Each class will end with deep relaxation. Yoga is a great way to develop and maintain a healthy lifestyle, feel good and enjoy the simple things in life. Yoga for beginners is suitable for all ages, no experience needed to start. Class is one hour in length.

Naga Yoga Practice class (level 2) Take your yoga practice to a deeper level with this popular class. Here we continue what we learned in the beginning class, but begin to practice with internal forms and more advanced work with breath and asana. Learn about the 8 limbs of yoga while you practice Naga Vinyasa Yoga amongst friends, new and old. Improved focus, concentration, balance and ease of movement are all benefits of a consistent yoga practice. Pre-requisite: Yoga for beginners or prior experience. Class is one hour, fifteen minutes.

Yin Yoga (for all levels) As we age and/or become more sedentary, our bodies may experience chronic pain and stiffness. Yin yoga is a quiet, personal practice to help the nadis, or energy channels of the body to open, becoming more alive and healthy. Yin postures are gentle floor poses held in a relaxed meditative way to release tight muscles, joints and connective tissue, and to stimulate new cell growth. With long slow relaxed, gentle traction we are able heal and rebuild our bodies. Some experience in yoga is helpful, but not required to participate. Yin yoga is gentle by nature, so that all may participate. If you can lie down or sit on the floor, you can do yin yoga. Class is one hour in length.

Important note: Combining yoga classes is a good idea, and we suggest taking the Yin Yoga in addition to your regular yoga class for the best results. Yin yoga specifically targets the joints and connective tissue, while Naga Yoga targets breath, movement, muscle and bone health.

Class fees:  Yoga for beginners and Yin yoga meet once per week. Class fee for once-per-week classes is $85 for 8 week classes and $75 for 7 week classes. Practice class meets twice-per-week and class fee is $114 for 8 weeks. If one chooses to attend once-per-week, the fee is $85. There is also an “unlimited” class membership that entitles one to take any and all yoga classes offered at the Camano Center. Unlimited membership is a monthly fee of $85, billed automatically via credit card or bank draft. Unlimited memberships can also be purchased for 3 months, 6 months and a year. There is also an unlimited membership for $100 per month that entitles the student to attend all yoga and Pilates classes on Camano Island and at Movement Arts in Arlington. All students may make up missed classes by attending any other class at the center.
