Chuck Robertson, a former research meteorologist, will speak about the physical processes involved as light interacts with air, ice and water. Rainbows, haloes, mirages, and sun dogs are just a few of the optical phenomena that one might see in the skies of the northwest. This talk will describe these beautiful and sometime elusive displays and explain what one can learn from them about the weather.
