WE INVITE YOUR PARTICIPATION AS A DONOR OF AUCTION ITEMS TO HELP ENSURE THAT FUNDING GOALS ARE MET.As a 501©(3) non-profit, the Center fills a vital role in our community; it has a membership of over 1700 with more than 2500 using the facility each month. It provides services to seniors, a third of the Island’s population, with the goal of enabling independence for as long as possible: low/no cost lunches at the Center three days weekly, Meals on Wheels for the homebound, Senior Information and Assistance/Case Management, Foot Clinic, volunteer transportation and chore services, and the list goes on. Additionally, the Center serves as a resource for the entire community by hosting a broad variety of classes from college-level courses to exercise. It sponsors trips, provides a forum for support groups, card and game players, cooks, crafters, writers and a myriad of other community-enhancing activities. The Center has truly become a hub of the community.
Maintaining these vital programs and the facility itself comes at a cost. The Gala Auction is the principal fundraising event of our year and a premiere evening of socializing, entertainment and bidding on silent and live auction items. The theme of the 2010 Island Gala Auction is “Vintage Hollywood Glamour.” This theme provides a great counterpoint to the nuts and bolts, meat and potatoes kind of work done by the Center. We hope we can count on your continued support—behind every successful auction are generous donors, patrons just like you, who make our work possible.
