Camano Center Resources
The Center has many resources available to our community members.
We can help out with your physical needs with free blood pressure checks during business hours, free hearing and vision screenings approximately once a quarter, and free loans of durable medical equipment like walkers and wheelchairs. Nail technicians take appointments for foot care most Wednesdays for those who have trouble taking care of their own feet.
We serve lunches every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and anyone can come get a great meal and do a little socializing. Cost is $4 for those sixty and over and $6 for those who are younger.
AARP Volunteers come to the Center every year between February and mid-April to provide free assistance with preparing your Federal tax return.
If you are 55 or older, you can save on your car insurance by taking a quarterly AARP Safe Driving Course.
For community members age 60 or older, we have Ensure Meal Supplement Drink available for purchase through a partnership with Senior Services of Island County.
If you need a little (or a lot) of help around the house, we maintain a list of people who would love for you to hire them to do household chores, yard work, home repairs, or even personal care.
And we will always have our core group of services just for seniors. From Senior Information and Assistance, to Meals-on-Wheels and Memory Loss Support, Senior Services of Island County works in partnership with us to provide needed services.
Front desk volunteers call vulnerable seniors every weekday morning to check to see if everything is OK.
Other volunteers provide rides to medical appointments for those unable to drive themselves (must be 60+ or 18-59 and disabled). Our Adult Day Program provides needed respite to those providing 24/7 care to their loved ones. And our Disaster/Special Needs Registry pairs up those who have special needs with Disaster Buddies who will check on them if there is a disaster.
